The information and communication technologies sector are set to be disrupted by rapid advances in quantum computing and communications in coming years. Starting from advances in computing and networking resulting from quantum technologies, learners will be introduced to threats and opportunities for cybersecurity.

Seminar

Learners will understand the Canadian national quantum readiness strategies, connect with peers, experts, and solutions in this space, and acquire the resources, strategies, and tools to prepare their organizations. Learners will take away a formulated action plan, outlining tangible steps that can be implemented now, as well as ways to keep up to date with future changes.

Outline

  1. Quantum Awareness: Introduces quantum at a high level to understand the opportunities and threats

  2. Quantum Technologies and the Evolution of Encryption: An analysis on quantum emergence; this presentation focuses primarily on the threats portion and how it relates to cyber security.

  3. Getting to Quantum Safe: Provide participants with resources, tools, ideas on how to get their organizations to act regarding quantum threats and opportunities

Education/Experience: Cybersecurity professionals and leaders at all levels. Participants should have some professional experience in information security, including cybersecurity basics and fundamental knowledge of how computers function

Relevance: Best suited for IT and cybersecurity professionals seeking to help their organizations strategize for quantum safety

Kyle Loree is the Lead Post-Quantum Security Consultant at the Quantum Algorithms Institute. Kyle brings extensive expertise in cybersecurity, IT infrastructure, and software development. Having previously served as Director at Consumer Protection BC, where he led the organization's digital transformation and oversaw all aspects of information technology, Kyle is dedicated to advancing security, optimizing infrastructure, and creating innovative software solutions. With an M.Sc. in Information Systems from the University of Athabasca, Kyle’s work spans the complexities of cybersecurity and IT, with a strong focus on driving innovation in the tech industry.
