Canada’s First Quantum Computing Sandbox Launches

FABrIC, powered by CMC Microsystems, has launched Canada’s first Quantum Computing Sandbox (QCS), a national program designed to accelerate the adoption of quantum computing across academia, startups, SMEs, and not-for-profit organizations. The Sandbox supports the development of industrially relevant quantum applications while strengthening Canadian quantum R&D in strategically important areas. Participants receive funded access to leading global quantum computing cloud platforms, along with hands-on support from CMC’s dedicated quantum application scientists. Projects span discovery, adoption, and demonstration tracks, enabling teams to explore use cases, advance quantum research, and deploy scalable, industry-focused applications, while retaining full ownership of their intellectual property. The deadline to submit a full proposal is January 19, 2026, with applicants notified of results in March 2026.
