PacifiCan Invests Over $46.6M to Strengthen BC’s Defence and Quantum Capabilities
PacifiCan is investing more than $46.6 million in eight BC projects to accelerate defence innovation and strengthen Canada’s domestic supply chains under the new Defence Industrial Strategy. Key investments include $4.75 million to upgrade equipment at UBC’s Quantum Matter Institute to support next generation chips, sensors and advanced materials, and more than $10 million to Simon Fraser University to establish the Vancouver Quantum Network, a quantum secure communications testbed connecting research, industry and government partners. Additional funding will expand AI infrastructure, commercialization supports and marine and dual use technology development, positioning BC as a major contributor to Canada’s sovereign defence and emerging technology ecosystem.
