Photonic Selected For Canada’s New $92M Quantum Champions Program

The Government of Canada has launched Phase 1 of the Canadian Quantum Champions Program (CQCP), a major new initiative investing up to $92 million to strengthen Canada’s quantum technology ecosystem. Announced by Minister Evan Solomon, the program supports Canadian-headquartered companies—including Photonic, Anyon Systems, Nord Quantique, and Xanadu Quantum Technologies—as they advance toward fault-tolerant, industrial-scale quantum computers. As part of this first phase, Photonic has been selected to receive up to $23 million to accelerate development of its distributed quantum computing platform, reinforcing Canada’s leadership in quantum innovation while anchoring high-value talent, jobs, and intellectual property at home. The CQCP forms part of a broader $334.3 million federal investment outlined in Budget 2025 to position quantum as strategic infrastructure critical to national security, economic resilience, and long-term competitiveness.
