Photonic Sets New Benchmark For Scalable Quantum Computing

Vancouver-based Photonic has introduced a new approach to Quantum Resource Estimation (QRE) that more accurately reflects the real cost of scaling distributed, fault-tolerant quantum systems. By accounting for both on-chip operations and inter-system networking using its Entanglement First™ architecture and QLDPC error-correction codes, Photonic has delivered the first realistic resource estimate for running Shor’s algorithm on a fully distributed quantum architecture. This work establishes a new industry benchmark for comparing quantum systems and provides clearer timelines for when large-scale, commercially valuable quantum applications can move from theory to practice.
